Welcome to Atlantis Chess Club. These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of our website, registration forms, payment links, programs, events, tournaments, and related services.
By using this website, registering a student, submitting a form, making a payment, or allowing a student to participate in an Atlantis Chess Club program, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before registering.
Atlantis Chess Club provides youth chess programs for students ages 6–17 in Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce, Florida. Our programs are designed to help students build focus, planning skills, patience, confidence, sportsmanship, and thoughtful decision-making through structured chess lessons, group match play, Chess Challenges, Monthly Open Play, tournaments, certificates, milestone recognition, and leadership and growth opportunities.
All students under 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. By registering a student, you confirm that:
Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their child before the program begins and for picking up their child promptly at the end of each session.
Port St. Lucie:
Registration and payment are completed through the City of Port St. Lucie registration system. Atlantis Chess Club does not control the City’s registration platform, payment system, or related policies.
Fort Pierce:
Registration and payment are completed through Atlantis Chess Club. Payment is processed through a secure third-party payment provider.
Program space may be limited. Registration is subject to availability, payment completion, eligibility, facility requirements, staffing, and program capacity. Atlantis Chess Club may accept, decline, pause, or close registration when needed for safety, capacity, staffing, or operational reasons.

Atlantis Chess Club may change program dates, times, locations, staffing, format, or availability due to facility needs, holidays, weather, emergencies, safety concerns, enrollment, staffing, or other operational needs.
Atlantis Chess Club fees may include:
Fort Pierce payments may be processed through a secure third-party payment provider, such as Stripe. Atlantis Chess Club does not store full credit card numbers or complete payment card details. Parents and guardians are responsible for reviewing all payment details before completing checkout.
Monthly membership provides access to the registered program for the applicable student, location, and age group. Membership may include weekly structured chess lessons, group match play, Chess Challenge assignments, Monthly Open Play, certificates, milestone recognition, leadership and growth opportunities, and a safe, positive learning environment.
Monthly membership does not guarantee a specific coach, group assignment, opponent, activity, tournament result, award, or advancement level.
Before completing payment, parents and guardians are responsible for reviewing the student’s program selection, location, fee amount, billing frequency, cancellation terms, and refund terms. By submitting payment, the parent or guardian confirms that they are authorized to use the payment method provided and authorize Atlantis Chess Club or its third-party payment processor to process the applicable charge.
Atlantis Chess Club may decline, suspend, or cancel registration if payment is not completed, payment is reversed, a chargeback is submitted, or payment information cannot be verified.
Monthly membership automatically renews on a recurring monthly basis unless cancelled in accordance with the Refund & Cancellation Policy. By purchasing a monthly membership, the parent or guardian authorizes Atlantis Chess Club and its payment processor to charge the payment method provided for the applicable membership fee and any applicable taxes or charges on a recurring monthly basis until the membership is cancelled.
Atlantis Chess Club will disclose the automatic renewal terms clearly during the registration or checkout process and in the applicable policy documents. Atlantis Chess Club will provide any renewal notices required by applicable law. Atlantis Chess Club may also send courtesy reminders about upcoming billing cycles, but failure to receive a courtesy reminder does not waive the parent’s or guardian’s responsibility to manage or cancel the membership before the applicable billing date.
Parents and guardians are responsible for keeping their email address, phone number, and payment information current.
Single Session Drop-In registration allows a student to attend one eligible session, subject to space and availability. Drop-in participation does not guarantee future enrollment, reserved space, membership status, tournament eligibility, or placement in a specific group.
Atlantis Chess Club may host seasonal tournaments, including the Atlantis Summer Chess Tournament and Atlantis Winter Chess Tournament. Tournament registration may be separate from monthly membership. Tournament schedules, divisions, awards, participation requirements, formats, and availability may vary. Atlantis Chess Club may organize students by age, readiness, skill level, experience, or other fair grouping criteria.
Students may be grouped by chess readiness and skill level, not by age alone. Atlantis Chess Club may use the following learning groups:
Initial grouping may be based on parent/guardian input and student experience. Placement may later be adjusted based on coach observation, participation, match play, Chess Challenge performance, sportsmanship, Monthly Open Play, and overall readiness. Atlantis Chess Club may make placement decisions in the best interest of student learning, safety, confidence, and program quality.
Atlantis Chess Club is committed to a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment. Students are expected to:
Atlantis Chess Club may contact a parent or guardian if a student’s behavior is disruptive, unsafe, disrespectful, or inconsistent with program expectations. Atlantis Chess Club may limit participation, remove a student from a session, suspend participation, or dismiss a student from the program if behavior concerns continue or create safety concerns.
Atlantis Chess Club is committed to maintaining a respectful, safe, and positive environment for students, families, staff, coaches, volunteers, and facility partners. Parents and guardians are expected to:
Atlantis Chess Club may limit communication, restrict access to program areas, refuse future registration, or dismiss a student from the program if a parent or guardian’s conduct disrupts the program, creates a safety concern, or interferes with the positive learning environment.
Parents and guardians must follow all drop-off and pick-up procedures. Students must be picked up on time at the end of each session. Late pick-up affects student safety, staffing, and facility operations.
Atlantis Chess Club may issue reminders or warnings for late pick-ups. Three consecutive late pick-ups may result in dismissal from the program. Additional details may be provided in the Liability Waiver and Release, the New Member Registration & Acknowledgment Form, program communications, or facility-specific policies.
Students will only be released to a parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult listed on the student’s registration or pick-up authorization form. Atlantis Chess Club may request identification before releasing a student. Parents and guardians are responsible for keeping authorized pick-up information current.
Atlantis Chess Club may refuse to release a student to any person who is not listed as an authorized pick-up contact or who cannot provide appropriate identification when requested.
Atlantis Chess Club is not responsible for resolving custody, guardianship, parenting-time, or family-law disputes. Parents and guardians are responsible for providing Atlantis Chess Club with accurate written instructions and any legally valid court order or restriction that affects who may register, communicate about, or pick up a student.
Unless Atlantis Chess Club has received and had a reasonable opportunity to review a valid written court order or legal restriction, Atlantis Chess Club may rely on the information provided in the student’s registration, emergency contact, and authorized pick-up records. Atlantis Chess Club may refuse to release a student, contact law enforcement, contact emergency services, or take other reasonable safety steps if a custody, pick-up, or safety concern arises.
Parents and guardians must provide accurate emergency contact information and notify Atlantis Chess Club of any information that may affect the student’s safety, participation, or support needs.
In an emergency or urgent situation, Atlantis Chess Club may contact the parent/guardian, emergency contacts, facility staff, or emergency services as appropriate. If Atlantis Chess Club makes three consecutive attempts to contact a parent/guardian or listed emergency contact and is unable to reach them, Atlantis Chess Club reserves the right to contact emergency services or the appropriate emergency department as needed for the student’s safety.
Parents and guardians are responsible for any costs, fees, charges, or expenses incurred from emergency medical services, transportation, emergency department care, or other emergency response services. Atlantis Chess Club is not a medical provider and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or individualized medical care.
Atlantis Chess Club reserves the right to take reasonable action when it believes a student’s health, safety, welfare, or security may be at risk. This may include contacting a parent or guardian, emergency contacts, facility staff, emergency medical services, law enforcement, child protection authorities, or other appropriate persons or agencies, depending on the circumstances.
Atlantis Chess Club may remove a student from an activity, keep a student in a supervised area, refuse release to an unauthorized or unsafe person, or pause participation where reasonably necessary to protect student safety.
For the safety of all students, families, staff, coaches, and volunteers, students may not attend an Atlantis Chess Club session if they are sick or showing symptoms of illness. Symptoms include, but are not limited to:
Students with coughing, sneezing, or runny nose symptoms may not attend, whether or not they have a temperature. Atlantis Chess Club may contact a parent or guardian to pick up a student who appears ill during a session. Missed sessions due to illness are subject to the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Atlantis Chess Club does not provide snacks or beverages during regular weekly sessions.
For certain special events or tournaments, including the Atlantis Summer Chess Tournament and Atlantis Winter Chess Tournament, lunch or refreshments may be included in the tournament fee when stated in the event details. Parents and guardians are responsible for disclosing any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical concerns before the tournament or event. Atlantis Chess Club will make reasonable efforts to share menu options with registered families before the event.
Atlantis Chess Club cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. Food, outside food rules, and beverage rules may also depend on the policies of the hosting facility.
Students are responsible for their personal belongings. Atlantis Chess Club is not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged personal items, including bags, clothing, electronic devices, toys, money, or other belongings brought to a session, tournament, or event. Parents are encouraged to label student belongings and to avoid sending unnecessary valuables.
Atlantis Chess Club may communicate with parents and guardians by email, text message, phone call, registration platform, payment platform, Band app, another communication app, or any future Atlantis Chess Club app.
Parents and guardians are responsible for keeping their contact information current, including phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, and authorized pick-up information. Important program updates may include schedule changes, closures, registration reminders, payment and renewal notices, tournament information, policy updates, student concerns, emergency information, and other program-related communications.
Parents and guardians should notify Atlantis Chess Club before registration or participation if a student has any support needs, medical concerns, behavioral concerns, allergies, or other information that may affect safe participation. Atlantis Chess Club will make reasonable efforts to support student participation within the structure, staffing, and safety requirements of the program and hosting facility. Atlantis Chess Club may request additional information from a parent or guardian to help determine whether the program can safely and appropriately support the student.
By submitting an online registration form, checking an agreement box, making a payment, signing electronically, or allowing a student to participate in Atlantis Chess Club programs, the parent or guardian agrees to the applicable Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, Liability Waiver and Release, and program policies.
Electronic agreements and online submissions have the same legal effect as signed paper documents to the fullest extent permitted by law, including Florida’s Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (Fla. Stat. § 668.50) and the federal Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN Act, 15 U.S.C. § 7001 et seq.).
Participation in Atlantis Chess Club programs requires completion of the Atlantis Chess Club Parent/Guardian Liability Waiver, Assumption of Risk, and Release (the “Waiver”) and the New Member Registration & Acknowledgment Form before the student’s first session. These forms must be completed and submitted by a parent or legal guardian.
The Waiver contains important legal provisions regarding the risks of program participation, the parent’s or guardian’s assumption of those risks, and a release of certain legal claims against Atlantis Chess Club. Please read the Waiver carefully before signing.
Atlantis Chess Club may also require completion of an emergency contact form, authorized pick-up form, photo/media release, or other program forms. Atlantis Chess Club may refuse or pause participation if required forms are incomplete, inaccurate, missing, or not submitted by the required deadline.
Atlantis Chess Club may take photos or videos during programs, tournaments, awards, or club activities only when appropriate parent/guardian permission has been provided. Photo and media permission may be handled separately through the registration form, Waiver, or media release. Parents and guardians may choose whether to allow or decline photo/video use for their child.
Refunds, cancellations, and missed sessions are governed by the Atlantis Chess Club Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms & Conditions by reference and is available at https://atlantischessclub.com/refund-cancellation-policy/.In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms & Conditions and the Refund & Cancellation Policy regarding refunds or cancellations, the Refund & Cancellation Policy shall govern. The Refund & Cancellation Policy may be updated from time to time; the version in effect at the time of the applicable billing cycle or transaction governs.
If there is a conflict between these Terms & Conditions and the Liability Waiver, Assumption of Risk, and Release regarding assumption of risk, release of claims, or emergency medical authorization, the Liability Waiver, Assumption of Risk, and Release will control to the fullest extent permitted by law. If there is a conflict regarding refunds, cancellations, missed sessions, or billing, the Refund & Cancellation Policy will control.
The Atlantis Chess Club website may include links to third-party websites, including the City of Port St. Lucie registration system, Stripe, registration forms, payment pages, or other platforms. Atlantis Chess Club is not responsible for third-party websites, payment platforms, outages, errors, policies, privacy practices, or terms. Parents and guardians should review third-party terms and privacy policies before submitting information or payment through those platforms.
You may use the Atlantis Chess Club website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:
Atlantis Chess Club names, logos, designs, written content, program materials, graphics, images, forms, and website content are owned by or licensed to Atlantis Chess Club unless otherwise stated. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or use Atlantis Chess Club materials without prior written permission.
Atlantis Chess Club may cancel, postpone, relocate, reschedule, or modify a program, session, tournament, or event due to weather, emergencies, facility requirements, staffing, safety concerns, low enrollment, public health concerns, or other circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Because Atlantis Chess Club operates within community facilities, if the Port St. Lucie Community Center, the Havert L. Fenn Center, or any hosting facility is closed for any reason, Atlantis Chess Club programs at that facility will also be closed for that session. Atlantis Chess Club will make reasonable efforts to notify registered families of important changes, closures, or rescheduled sessions.
Atlantis Chess Club programs are held at community facilities that are not owned or exclusively controlled by Atlantis Chess Club. Parents, guardians, students, and guests must follow all applicable facility rules, safety procedures, access restrictions, parking rules, restroom policies, and staff instructions.
Atlantis Chess Club is not responsible for facility closures, facility maintenance issues, parking conditions, public-area incidents, restroom conditions, security procedures, third-party conduct, or other conditions outside Atlantis Chess Club’s reasonable control. Atlantis Chess Club may modify or cancel a session if a facility condition, rule, staffing issue, or safety concern affects the program.
Participation in youth programs involves normal risks associated with group activities, facility use, games, instruction, movement, social interaction, and supervised activities. Atlantis Chess Club works to provide a safe and supportive environment but cannot guarantee that accidents, injuries, disruptions, delays, cancellations, technology issues, or third-party platform issues will never occur.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Atlantis Chess Club is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages related to website use, registration, payment processing, third-party platforms, program participation, schedule changes, or event changes. Nothing in this section limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or intentional harm.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Atlantis Chess Club, its owners, directors, staff, coaches, volunteers, partners, and representatives from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) inaccurate, false, or incomplete information you provide; (b) your violation of these Terms & Conditions; (c) your misuse of the Atlantis Chess Club website; or (d) your failure or your child’s failure to follow program policies, procedures, or rules.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, nothing in this section requires you to indemnify Atlantis Chess Club for claims arising directly from Atlantis Chess Club’s own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or intentional acts. This indemnification obligation survives the termination or expiration of your or your child’s enrollment in Atlantis Chess Club programs.
Use of the Atlantis Chess Club website, registration process, and program participation is subject to the Atlantis Chess Club Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is collected, used, protected, and shared. The Privacy Policy is available at https://atlantischessclub.com/privacy-policy/ and is incorporated herein by reference.
Atlantis Chess Club requires staff, coaches, and volunteers who support student programs to complete onboarding, screening, and background check procedures as required by Atlantis Chess Club policy, facility partners, the City of Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie County, and applicable law. Atlantis Chess Club is committed to maintaining a safe, supervised, and structured environment for students, families, staff, coaches, volunteers, and community partners.
Atlantis Chess Club may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Updates will be posted on this website with a revised effective date. Continued use of the website, registration, payment, or participation after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms & Conditions.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms & Conditions, the Atlantis Chess Club website, registration, payment, or participation in Atlantis Chess Club programs shall be brought exclusively in the Circuit Court of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, in and for St. Lucie County, Florida, or, where applicable, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Each party irrevocably consents to personal jurisdiction and venue in such courts and waives any objection based on improper venue, inconvenient forum, or lack of jurisdiction.
Before initiating any legal proceeding, the parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute through informal negotiation. The party raising the complaint must provide written notice to the other party describing the dispute in reasonable detail. If the parties are unable to resolve the dispute within thirty (30) calendar days of such written notice, either party may request non-binding mediation to be conducted in St. Lucie County, Florida, administered by a mediator mutually agreed upon by the parties. The costs of mediation shall be shared equally.
If mediation does not resolve the dispute within sixty (60) calendar days of the mediation request, either party may pursue legal remedies in the courts described in Section 33 above. Nothing in this section limits either party’s right to seek emergency injunctive or equitable relief to protect a student’s safety or to prevent irreparable harm pending resolution of the dispute.
The following provisions survive the termination or expiration of enrollment in Atlantis Chess Club programs and continue in full force and effect: Sections 17 (Personal Belongings), 26 (Intellectual Property), 28 (Limitation of Liability), 29 (Indemnification), 33 (Governing Law and Venue), 34 (Dispute Resolution), and 35 (Survival).
