Atlantis Chess Club respects the privacy of our members, parents, guardians, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share personal information when you visit our website, register for a program, make a payment, contact us, or participate in Atlantis Chess Club activities.
This Privacy Policy applies to Atlantis Chess Club’s website, online forms, registration processes, payment-related records, program communications, and youth program operations.
Atlantis Chess Club provides youth chess programs for students ages 6–17 in Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce, Florida. Our programs include structured chess lessons, group match play, Chess Challenge assignments, Monthly Open Play, tournaments, certificates, milestone recognition, and leadership and growth opportunities.
By registering a student, using our website, or allowing a student to participate in Atlantis Chess Club activities, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy.
Atlantis Chess Club serves students as young as age 6. Because our programs are directed at children and because we collect personal information from and about children under the age of 13, we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506, and the FTC’s Amended COPPA Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 312), which became effective on June 23, 2025.
Our commitments under COPPA:
Atlantis Chess Club collects registration, consent, waiver, emergency contact, authorized pick-up, health/allergy, and participation information from a parent or legal guardian, not directly from children. By completing registration, submitting a form, signing a waiver, making a payment, or permitting a child to participate, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they are authorized to provide the child’s information and consent to Atlantis Chess Club’s collection, use, and disclosure of that information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Atlantis Chess Club does not permit children under 13 to independently create accounts, submit registration forms, make payments, or provide consent online. If Atlantis Chess Club learns that personal information has been submitted directly by a child under 13 without appropriate parent or guardian involvement, Atlantis Chess Club will take reasonable steps to delete the information or obtain appropriate parental consent, as required by applicable law.

Program-related email, phone, or text communications may include registration updates, schedule changes, safety notices, payment reminders, and program announcements. Consent to receive program-related communications is not the same as consent to receive optional marketing or promotional text messages.
Port St. Lucie:
Registration and payment for the Port St. Lucie Juniors program are completed through the City of Port St. Lucie website and registration system. Atlantis Chess Club does not control the City’s website, payment system, or privacy practices. Parents and guardians should review the City’s privacy policy before submitting information through the City’s platform.
Fort Pierce:
Registration for Fort Pierce programs is completed through Atlantis Chess Club. Payments may be processed through a secure third-party payment provider, such as Stripe. Atlantis Chess Club does not store full credit card numbers or complete payment card details. Payment information is handled by the payment processor in accordance with its own security and privacy practices.
Atlantis Chess Club serves students ages 6–17. All registration and program communication must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without parental or guardian involvement.
Parents and guardians are responsible for providing accurate registration, emergency contact, authorized pick-up, and consent information, and for notifying Atlantis Chess Club promptly of any changes to this information.

Requests will be processed subject to records we are required to maintain for safety, payment, legal, or regulatory compliance.
Atlantis Chess Club may take photos or videos during programs, tournaments, awards, or club activities only when a parent or guardian has expressly consented to photo/video use for their child. Photo and video permission is collected separately through the registration and enrollment process.
Atlantis Chess Club will not use photos or videos of a child whose parent or guardian has declined permission for any public, promotional, or external purpose. Where permission has been granted, permitted uses may include club updates, website content, flyers, social media, newsletters, awards recognition, and promotional materials.
A parent or legal guardian may update or withdraw photo/video permission for future use by contacting Atlantis Chess Club at members@atlantischessclub.com or by texting 786-436-1434. Withdrawal of permission will apply prospectively and may not require Atlantis Chess Club to remove or recall materials that were already lawfully printed, published, distributed, or posted before the withdrawal was received and processed, unless removal is required by applicable law or reasonably practicable under the circumstances.
Atlantis Chess Club does not sell personal information.
We may share information with payment processors, registration or form platforms, program staff, coaches, approved volunteers, the City of Port St. Lucie (for PSL program administration), the Havert L. Fenn Center (for Fort Pierce facility coordination), authorized emergency contacts, and emergency services, as required for program operations or student safety.
Atlantis Chess Club may use trusted service providers and operational vendors to support registration, payment processing, website hosting, forms, email communications, text communications, scheduling, recordkeeping, and program administration. These may include payment processors such as Stripe, registration or form platforms, email or text communication providers, website hosting providers, communication apps, and other administrative tools used to operate the program.
Atlantis Chess Club authorizes such providers to use personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide services to Atlantis Chess Club, support program operations, comply with law, maintain security, prevent fraud, or perform related administrative functions.
Atlantis Chess Club will not share personal information about children under 13 with any third party for advertising, marketing, analytics profiling, or any purpose not integral to the operation of the program, without obtaining separate affirmative parental consent.
We may also share information if required by applicable law, court order, legal process, or to protect the safety of a student, staff member, or the public.
Our website may include links to third-party platforms, including the City of Port St. Lucie registration system, Stripe, or other registration or payment platforms. Atlantis Chess Club is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, security, or policies of any third-party website or platform. Parents and guardians should review the applicable privacy policies of third-party platforms before submitting information or payment through those platforms.
Atlantis Chess Club takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. These steps may include limiting access to registration data to authorized personnel, using secure third-party payment processors, and maintaining appropriate administrative and technical safeguards.
No website, email system, or online platform can guarantee complete security. Parents and guardians should avoid transmitting sensitive personal information by unsecured email or text.
Atlantis Chess Club retains personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for program operations, safety, communication, payment records, legal compliance, or administrative purposes.
For personal information collected from or about children under the age of 13, Atlantis Chess Club will retain such information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. Unless a longer period is reasonably required for safety, legal, payment, insurance, dispute-resolution, or administrative purposes, Atlantis Chess Club will generally delete, archive, or de-identify children’s registration and participation information within three (3) years after the conclusion of the student’s last enrolled program session.
When personal information is no longer needed, we will securely delete, archive, or de-identify it.
